How this calculation works
The tool finds the next anniversary on or after the reference date and counts the years completed then. It keeps the original date. For February 29, choose February 28, March 1, or the next leap year.
A worked example
An original date of June 15, 2020 and reference of October 1, 2026 gives June 15, 2027 as the next occurrence. Seven years will be complete on that date. If the reference is June 15, the next occurrence can be that same day with zero days remaining.
Count completed years at the next occurrence
The result keeps the original date and the next annual date distinct.
| Original and reference | Result |
|---|---|
| June 15, 2020. Reference October 1, 2026. | Next June 15, 2027. 7 years complete on that date. |
