Save a date without an exact moment

Use this for an ordinary birthday or celebration when the calendar day matters more than a clock time. The event date is not an elapsed 24-hour block.

  1. Open the mark's editor and choose Target date.
  2. Expand Optional timing and place.
  3. Leave Include a target time off.
  4. Review the event's Time zone and the date summary.
  5. Choose a calendar-day display under Countdown detail.
  6. Tap Save and check the date in the event details.

Midnight is the boundary

From Monday to Tuesday there is one calendar-day transition even if Tuesday is only minutes away. A timed countdown could show less than one full day at the same moment. Changing units cannot remove this difference because the underlying question is different.

Compare the same counting method

Check whether your comparison includes the start date. The date tools here default to exclusive day difference unless they explicitly say inclusive. If the event needs a precise arrival moment, add a time instead of changing the date to force a matching number.

A countdown just before midnight

At 11:55 p.m., tomorrow is one calendar date away and midnight is five minutes away. Both counts are correct. Compare countdowns using the same time zone and counting method.
