How this calculation works
The days result includes departure and return dates. The nights result is the difference between those dates. Friday through Sunday gives three days and two nights. Clock times and a hotel's booking rules are separate.
A worked example
A departure on Friday, October 2 and return on Sunday, October 4, 2026 covers three dates and two overnight transitions. A same-day trip covers one date and zero transitions. Actual hotel occupancy should still come from the reservation.
